Year of the Arts - 2021/2022
We were very excited to be hosting a ‘Year of the Arts’ at school last year. We are proud of our well-rounded curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities for our pupils. Here are just some of the new things we have introduced to raise the profile of the arts in school:
Listen, Imagine, Compose project
Year 5 are taking part in a huge, two-year project with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group which involves workshops with professional musicians and composers. We have really been enjoying working alongside Michael on the first unit.

More visiting musicians
We are so pleased to have been visited by the Kimichi school for some wonderful performances from their children and we have performances booked with different musicians across the year.
Mr Stables has been leading drama club across Key Stage 2, they are fabulous performers! The have worked so hard on their performances which can be seen on Class Dojo.
Choir and singing assemblies
Mr Davies has been leading choir across Key Stage 2, and they even did some carolling in the village during Christmas time. Singing assemblies have also made a return and are being delivered by Mrs Judd.
On 27th January we celebrated all things French - assemblies, food, lessons...on va bien s'amuser :0)
For the first time, this year we have a school orchestra led by Mrs Baptiste and Mrs Judd. Our brass and string pupils have been working really hard and enjoying playing in the ensemble.
Drama workshops and ‘Drama day’
In the Autumn term, we had a dedicated ‘drama day’ in our classrooms. Year 3 and year 5 also had a very interesting and thought-provoking drama workshop.
Art competition and the Van Gogh experience
Year 3 got to visit the wonderful Van Gogh experience in Leicester and this was also a prize for our Christmas card competition last year.
