Attendance
We work hard to ensure that families within our community have the support that they need. This includes support around attendance.
We are the first school, nationally, to achieve the Bronze Award for attendance in July 2024.
Every member of school staff shares the collective responsibility for supporting and elevating attendance outcomes by integrating the values, vision, and ethos of attendance into their daily actions.
We are a welcoming school and have many things in place to help children attend. These are continually reviewed and often tailored to suit the needs of an indivudal.
Some of these include;
- An Outstanding grading from OFSTED for personal develpment (July 2024).
- An Outstanding grading from OFSTED for behaviour and attitudes (July 2024).
- School motto to celebrate and welcome difference- Everyone is different. Everyone is equal. Everyone is welcome.
- A broad and balanced curriculum, full of enriching activities for all year groups - from discos, trips, visitors to school, themed days, celebrations and world food days to tingle taste buds with celebrations and countries from around the world.
- Encouraging nursery and reception parents to bring their children into school and settle in together.
- Familiar and friendly members of staff on doors to welcome children in each day and take any messages from parents. We feel it is really helpful for parents to have someone who knows each child. You will often see us waving a greeting across the playground.
- Open door policy so that parents will always have someone they can talk to.
- Lots of different means of communication (text, email, call or use Class Dojo to reach us if you cannot pop in)
- Free breakfast for children in Reception, Key Stage 1 and 2 from 8.15am each morning. This is a time for children to socialise with their friends, listen to music or play some games before school officially startsat 8.40am. It gives parents a longer period of time to drop children to school and a gradual influx of children into our buildings.
- Early bird for year 6 from 8am.
- Paid provision for children from 7.30am.
- Calls and texts to parents in regards to attendance.
- Morning tasks to settle into class.
- High expectations for behaviour. Children know to come into school quietly and be ready to learn. A quiet an purposeful environment is more comfotring and reassuring for our learners.
- Adult assisted sessions sessions at lunch times - adding structure to unstructured times of the day.
- Lunch times staggered from 11.30-2.00pm so that children have more space to play with similar aged children.
- Break times are spread out so that year groups have a large area of the playground to themsleves.
- Nurture support via our Nurture Mentor - Mrs Chambers.
- Safe and sensory spaces away from classrooms.
- Enhanced provision for those with high level SEND needs.
- Experienced and committed team of teachers and teaching assistants.
- Lots of play equipment.
- Cookery sessions to teach life skills, create a sensory experience and enjoy different tastes and smells.
- Forest School sessions for holisitc learning.
- Pupil voice sessions every half term. We welcome and actively encourage children to share their views on all aspects of school life.
- School council with representatives from our ecology, Rights and wellbeing teams. Our School Council regularly meet to discuss school life and each School Councillor captures the voices of those within their class. These are then fedback to the Headteacher who responds and assigns any actions. These meetings have resulted in many changes around school such as our playgrounds, school trips and dinner times.
- Attendance recognition prizes each week.
- 'Caught being good' recogition raffle tickets to praise behaviours such as manners and helping others.
