The Daily Mile TM

At Acocks Green Primary School we find as many opportunities for our pupils to be active and engaged in healthy life choices. We have chosen to take part in 'The Daily Mile TM' a national programme to encourage children to increase their activity for upto 15 minutes of the day, as many times a week as they can, in addition to their PE lessons and playtimes. We do this on our recently-painted running track suitable for The Daily Mile which you will see around the edge of the playground. All of our children take part each week whatever their level of fitness. Some of our teachers take part at lunchtime too. Our original aim wass to increase our fitness levels so that within 4 weeks, we could all run the full mile. We have achieved this now and as a school, we have collectively run 100 miles! Our fitness levels are great, even through the colder months of the year, and we are now starting the second leg of the challenge to complete 200 miles. We won't stop running as we know how great it makes us feel, physically and mentally!
