Through our curriculum, extra-curricular activities and assemblies, Acocks Green Primary School actively promotes British values. By doing so, we ensure that all children understand the values that traditionally underpin British society.
The teaching of these values promotes cohesiveness within our school and community. We prepare children for life in modern Britain where our population has a rich diversity of backgrounds, origins, beliefs, lifestyles and cultures; all of which are celebrated at our school.
Each half term, we focus on a different ‘child friendly’ value.
The values we look at throughout the year are: Justice, Respect, Care, Honesty, Resilience, and Understanding. You can view the children’s work on our school blog and Twitter page.
Here are our British Values displays for 2021-2022!
Acocks Green Primary School sits at the heart of the local community, in every sense. Our community supports and inspires the work that we do, and we draw on these strengths to offer our children the very best start in life. We are proud of our diverse community and we are equally proud to share and celebrate the values, which underpin our society. Family life, fair-play, tolerance, freedom and liberty, democracy and the rule of law are just some of the values, which make Britain great.
Around school, we have enjoyed celebrating these values, not least because in 2015 we celebrated 800 years since the signing of the Magna Carta, which established the principle that everyone is subject to the law and guarantees the rights of individuals, the right to justice and the right to a fair trial.
Each year our Year 6 children visit the Houses of Parliament to see democracy at work and another visit in 2022 is in the pipeline.
