Overview of Safeguarding at Acocks Green Primary School

What does safeguarding mean?

Acocks Green Primary School has a duty of care for children, young people or vulnerable adults to ensure that those under their care are protected from harm inside and outside of their institutions. Safeguarding is the term used to describe the measures put in place to ensure the protection of health, wellbeing and human rights of individuals under their care.

Our 4 DSLs (Designated Safeguarding Leads) are easily contactable if you have any concerns about children or adults.

Concerns can be anything ranging from an unsettling feeling that you may have, to concerns surrounding abuse.

All concerns will be taken seriously. Some concerns may need other professionals to become involved, such as Family Support, Social workers, Police or Health Services.

Once your concern has been passed on to us, it will be kept confidential apart from the necessary professionals required to handle it. If you are directly linked to the concern, you will be informed of any next steps. If you are not directly involves you or your family, we may not be able to tell you what actions have been taken.

In most cases, we will inform families if a concern has been raised. There are occasions when this will not happen. DSLs take advice from CASS (Children's Advice and Support Service - 0121 303 1888) and follow their guidance.
